About the teacher

Jessica graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She then completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at a private specialty hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before entering a comparative ophthalmology residency and Master ’s degree program at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Her training was completed in 2012, when she became a board-certified diplomate member of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

Prior to relocating to Adelaide and joining the SASH team in Australia, Jessica worked in academic practice as a faculty member and Professor of Ophthalmology at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine for 13 years. Her clinical interests are numerous and include management of viral surface ocular disease in cats and cataract surgery, though she is enthusiastic about all aspects of medical and surgical management of ophthalmic diseases in animals. She is also dedicated to clinical teaching and the integration of competency-based veterinary education into instruction and assessment of veterinary students. Through consultation, referral examination, and delivery of continuing education content, Jessica truly enjoys collaborating with primary veterinarians to provide exceptional care to patients and their owners.
