About the teacher

Dr Guillaumin obtained his DVM diploma from the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Nantes in France in 2001. He completed his rotating internship at the Ecole Nationale veterinaire d’Alfort near Paris, in France, and practiced emergency medicine and critical care in both academia and private practice in Europe for several years, including in the Emergency and Critical Care department (SIAMU unit) of the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Lyon (now VetAgroSup’). In 2005, Dr Guillaumin left France for the USA, where he worked in the ECC Service at the University of California in Davis, in California and Cornell University in New York. He went back to UC Davis in 2006 to complete a 3-year clinical residency in Emergency and Critical Care. He was awarded ACVECC certification in 2009 and started his career at The Ohio State University that same year. Dr Guillaumin has been teaching fluid therapy for more than a decade, and has trained 1000+ students in various settings, including 100+ interns and residents. Dr Guillaumin is very active in lecturing, both locally, nationally and internationally. He has authored 60+ manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts, with a focus on transfusion, hemostasis, sepsis and septic shock, immune-mediated hemolytic anemia and dysnatremias. After 10 years at OSU, Dr Guillaumin is currently an Associate Professor at Colorado State University and is both certified from the American and the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. In his spare time, Dr Guillaumin enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, and likes to travel and ride horses.
