Addressed to Veterinarians
ABOUT THE COURSE This course provides a comprehensive and clinically oriented overview of veterinary oncology for general practitioners working with dogs and cats. The course is designed to bridge the gap between oncology referral centers and everyday clinical practice, focusing on practical decision-making, realistic treatment goals, and quality-of-life–centered care.
Participants can expect an in-depth review of cancer biology, diagnostic approaches, staging, and treatment modalities, including surgery, chemotherapy, metronomic therapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapies, and supportive care. The program places special emphasis on the tumors most frequently encountered in general practice—such as lymphoma, mast cell tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, carcinomas (including urogenital and neuroendocrine tumors), and multiple myeloma—addressing both canine and feline patients.
Throughout the course, attention is given not only to tumor control but also to treatment tolerability, management of adverse effects, paraneoplastic syndromes, pain control, and ethical decision-making. By the end of the program, attendees will be better equipped to diagnose cancer, discuss prognosis and treatment options with pet owners, initiate appropriate therapies, monitor response and toxicity, and prioritize patient welfare throughout the disease course.
